The Afro-Latineers — August 8, 2026
Afrobeat, salsa, Latin jazz, and American jazz filled Stuyvesant Square Park as The Afro-Latineers returned for a vibrant summer afternoon of live music in the West Park.
Led by percussionist Paul “Sabor” Rivera, the multicultural ensemble brought together saxophone, guitar, bass, and layers of percussion in a lively musical conversation inspired by traditions spanning Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and American jazz. Infectious rhythms and improvisation carried through the park as neighbors, families, and passersby gathered beneath the trees to listen and enjoy the afternoon together.
Rescheduled from July because of rain, the performance proved well worth the wait—a joyful celebration of musicianship, culture, rhythm, and the shared experience of live music in the heart of the neighborhood.
