It was a beautiful summer afternoon in Stuyvesant Square Park, with great weather, a terrific turnout, and two events unfolding together beneath the trees.

The Cat Museum of NYC brought Color the Cats to the park, inviting children and adults to settle in at the tables and bring the wonderfully quirky felines of the Poorly Drawn Cats coloring book to life. Then, The Kidwell Sisters filled the park with music, drawing an enthusiastic crowd—and plenty of dancing.

The two gatherings naturally blended into one lively afternoon. Cat Museum of NYC president Jenny Pierson introduced the Kidwell Sisters, visitors moved between coloring and music, and overhead, pigeons gathered in the leafy tree canopies as the festivities carried on below.

A perfect Stuyvesant Square combination: community, creativity, music, dancing, cats—and pigeons.
